Board Of Trustees

The Foundation’s inaugural Board of Trustees consisted of Mr. Deepak Parekh, Mr. Ishaat Hussain, Mr. Keki Dadyseth, Mr. Rustom Mehta, and the family trustees, Ms. Pheroza Bilimoria, Mr. Rishaad Bilimoria, and Ms. Leila Bilimoria Surti.

After completing their six-year term, the four external Trustees were succeeded by a new group of trustees, whose profiles are outlined below. These individuals are distinguished and respected citizens of the country. As with their predecessors, the new Board members remain deeply engaged in the Foundation’s activities, providing ongoing guidance and support to the management.

Homi R Khusrokhan

Homi Khusrokhan is a B. Com. from Bombay University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and M.Sc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics & Political Science. He worked for 29 years with Glaxo & Burroughs Wellcome in India and retired as Managing Director of both companies in 2000. He then joined the Tata Group as Managing Director of Tata Tea Ltd. and later became Managing Director of Tata Chemicals. He has worked with various Industry Organisations and Chambers of Commerce. He was President of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India and Vice-President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Bahram Vakil

Mr. Akbar Khan

Akbar Khan is a seasoned financial services professional with more than 25 years’ experience spanning investment banking, corporate finance, SME lending and financial technology. He has held several leadership positions across Europe, Middle East, Africa and India including serving as Managing Director and Head of Business Development (M&A) for General Electric in South Asia, Middle East, North Africa and Turkey and working in varied leadership positions for the Bank of America Merrill Lynch and so on.

They are the three family members of The Jimmy S Bilimoria Trust. All three are career people who have made it their mission to provide palliative care in Mumbai.

Pheroza Bilimoria

Pheroza Bilimoria has 33 years’ experience in the magazine publishing business, in cable TV distribution and in the B2C trade show space. She is the first woman President of the Advertising Club Mumbai, the Advertising Standards Council of India and the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association. For over 12 years, and until 2013, she was on the World Board and the Executive Committee of the International Advertising Association (IAA) based in New York, where she was the Honorary Secretary of the organisation for 6 years.

Rishaad Bilimoria

Rishaad Bilimoria is a Partner at Tata Capital Healthcare Fund. Before his current position, he was a Partner at the Tata Opportunities Fund (TOF). He has been actively involved with Tata Capital’s private equity business since joining in August 2011. With 23 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, and investment banking across India, the UK, and the US, Rishaad brings a wealth of expertise to his role.

Leila Bilimoria

Leila Bilimoria is an independent communications and PR consultant with more than 20 years of work experience in PR and marketing of brands. She is the Founding Partner of LBS Consulting, a boutique communications agency that offers specialised, custom-made solutions to grow brands. Prior to LBS Consulting, Leila worked in Public Relations and Communications Services with Barclays Bank, LinOpinion and others
